Sinus Lift

Overview

The sinus cavities sit directly above the back upper teeth, and after losing a tooth in that area, the remaining bone can become too thin to support an implant safely. A sinus lift gently raises the floor of the sinus and adds bone graft material underneath, creating enough height for a stable implant.

It's a well-established procedure and, depending on how much height is needed, can sometimes be done at the same time as implant placement rather than as a separate surgery.

Who it's for

• You're missing an upper back tooth and want an implant, but have limited bone height
• A previous evaluation found your sinus is too close to the implant site
• You've had bone loss in the upper jaw from a long-missing tooth

What to expect

1. 3D imaging to measure the exact bone height available
2. The sinus lining is gently raised and bone graft material is placed
3. A healing period (varies by case) before or alongside implant placement
4. Once healed, the implant is placed or restored as planned
