Overview

When decay or a crack reaches the soft tissue inside a tooth, it can become infected or inflamed, causing pain and sensitivity. Root canal treatment removes that infected tissue from inside the tooth, cleans and disinfects the space, and seals it — allowing you to keep your natural tooth instead of extracting it.

Modern root canal treatment is done under local anaesthesia and is generally no more uncomfortable than having a filling placed.
